The dietary associate at PACE Southeast Michigan performs routine functions in the dietary department including food preparation, food service, cleaning, and other duties assigned under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian and Center Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation and serve meals, snacks, beverages, and nutrition supplements using proper portion control and sanitation practices.
- Prepare meals according to diet orders and serve participants promptly with appropriate meals.
- Wash, sanitize, and store dishes and feeding equipment.
- Assist in receiving, storing, and labeling food and supplies properly.
- Maintain equipment and report malfunctions.
- Follow fire safety, infection control, and chemical safety protocols.
- Adhere to Federal and State regulations and departmental policies.
- Perform cleaning duties as scheduled and maintain a safe environment.
- Take daily attendance and prepare tray tickets.
- Participate in training, in-services, and staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification (ANSI) required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Experience in long-term care or hospital food service preferred.
- Basic computer skills (MS Outlook and MS Word) required.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diet parameters.
- Strong interpersonal and interdepartmental relationship skills.
- Respect for participants' and co-workers' well-being.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret instructions.
- Medically cleared for communicable diseases and immunizations up-to-date.
- Meet CMS-approved competencies for independent work.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, carry 25 pounds, and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency in English (reading and speaking).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
