The dietary associate at PACE Southeast Michigan performs routine functions in the dietary department, including food preparation, food service, cleaning, and other duties assigned under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian and Center Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation and serve meals, snacks, beverages, and nutrition supplements, adhering to portion control and sanitation practices.
- Prepare meals according to diet orders and ensure participants receive the appropriate meal promptly.
- Wash, sanitize, and store dishes and adaptive feeding equipment.
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring proper labeling.
- Maintain equipment and report malfunctions to the Registered Dietitian.
- Follow fire safety, infection control, and hazardous chemical handling procedures, using cleaners and hazardous materials per facility policy.
- Comply with Federal and State regulations and departmental policies.
- Adhere to cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Take daily attendance and prepare tray tickets.
- Attend and participate in training sessions, in-services, and staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Registered Dietitian and Center Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification (ANSI) required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Experience in long-term care or hospital food service preferred.
- Basic computer skills (MS Outlook and MS Word) required.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diet parameters.
- Strong interpersonal and interdepartmental relationship skills.
- Respect for the physical, spiritual, and well-being of participants and colleagues.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret instructions.
- Medically cleared for communicable diseases and immunizations up-to-date prior to direct participant contact.
- Meet CMS-approved competencies before working independently.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Proficiency in reading and speaking English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carry 25 pounds, and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
