Dietary Associate (Food Service) - Southfield

Job Overview

The Dietary Associate at PACE Southeast Michigan performs routine functions in the dietary department, including food preparation, food service, cleaning, and other duties assigned under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian and Center Manager.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in food preparation and serve meals, snacks, beverages, and nutrition supplements, adhering to portion control and sanitation practices.
  2. Prepare meals according to diet orders and ensure timely service to participants.
  3. Wash, sanitize, and store dishes and adaptive feeding equipment.
  4. Receive, store, and label food and supplies properly.
  5. Maintain equipment and report malfunctions.
  6. Follow safety, infection control, and chemical handling protocols.
  7. Comply with federal, state, and departmental policies and procedures.
  8. Perform cleaning duties as scheduled, maintaining a clean, safe environment.
  9. Take daily attendance and prepare tray tickets.
  10. Participate in training, in-services, and staff meetings.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned under supervision.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification (ANSI).
  • CPR certification.
  • Experience in long-term care or hospital food service.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Outlook and MS Word).
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diet parameters.
  • Strong interpersonal and interdepartmental relationship skills.
  • Respect for participants' and co-workers' well-being.
  • Problem-solving abilities and ability to interpret instructions.
  • Medically cleared for communicable diseases with up-to-date immunizations.
  • Meet CMS-accepted competencies for independent work.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry/push/pull weights as specified.
  • Proficiency in English (reading and speaking).
