Position Summary

The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to the Cook.

Qualifications

• High School graduate; previous institutional dietary service experience preferred.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals; good motor coordination and manual dexterity for food prep, serving, handling dishes, operating equipment, and cleaning.
• Flexibility to work during emergencies; patience and tolerance towards staff, residents, and family members.

Responsibilities

• Perform work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
• Assist the cook in meal preparation and service.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow federal and state regulations, and departmental policies.
• Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
• Set up dining area and serve residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Report supply, equipment, and safety issues.
• Understand and follow fire, disaster, and infection control procedures.
• Assist with receiving and storing food supplies.
• Ensure all residents are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
• Report grievances, maintain HIPAA compliance, and perform other duties as assigned.
