Major Responsibilities

  1. Perform routine tasks associated with Dietary meal service for patients, cafeteria, and catering/special functions according to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Regulatory Agency and Health Department regulations.
  2. Prepare and assemble food according to established recipes and guidelines, monitor and document food temperatures.
  3. Stock patient floor kitchenettes with bulk nourishment and supplies, monitor and document refrigerator temperatures.
  4. Serve food to patients, employees, and guests, adhering to proper portion control, handling techniques, and temperature standards.
  5. Prepare and organize necessary food and supplies for service within established time frames, replenishing as needed.
  6. Distribute food, snacks, and patient meal trays according to dietary procedures.
  7. Maintain stocked trayline refrigerators and replenish as needed.
  8. Interact with patients at bedside or on the phone to assist with menu selection, considering age, abilities, diet prescriptions, food preferences, or cultural restrictions.
  9. Retrieve menus, make edits, and cross-check to ensure diet prescriptions conform to the menu selected.
  10. Adhere to safety, sanitation, and security guidelines according to accrediting organizations and departmental standards.
  11. Operate food service equipment safely, report malfunctions.
  12. Collect and dispose of or recycle refuse properly.
  13. Perform routine cleaning tasks using appropriate chemicals and procedures.
  14. Operate dishwashing equipment, clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and dishes.
  15. Strip carts of soiled trays, sanitize equipment and work areas.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned to support dietary operations.
  17. Participate in ongoing training, meetings, and in-services to meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications: High School diploma or 1 year related experience. Good communication skills, ability to read/write/speak English, customer-oriented, physical ability to stand/walk 100%, lift up to 40 lbs, and handle food service equipment.

Additional info: Knowledge of safety, sanitation, patient safety practices, and ability to work with a team. Emphasis on patient safety, including reporting safety events and promoting a culture of safety.
