Major Responsibilities
- Perform routine tasks associated with Dietary meal service for patients, cafeteria, and catering/special functions according to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Regulatory Agency and Health Department regulations.
- Prepare and assemble food according to established recipes and guidelines, monitor and document food temperatures.
- Stock patient floor kitchenettes with bulk nourishment and supplies, monitor and document refrigerator temperatures.
- Serve food to patients, employees, and guests, adhering to proper portion control, handling techniques, and temperature standards.
- Prepare and organize necessary food and supplies for service within established time frames, replenishing as needed.
- Distribute food, snacks, and patient meal trays according to dietary procedures.
- Maintain stocked trayline refrigerators and replenish as needed.
- Interact with patients at bedside or on the phone to assist with menu selection, considering age, abilities, diet prescriptions, food preferences, or cultural restrictions.
- Retrieve menus, make edits, and cross-check to ensure diet prescriptions conform to the menu selected.
- Adhere to safety, sanitation, and security guidelines according to accrediting organizations and departmental standards.
- Operate food service equipment safely, report malfunctions.
- Collect and dispose of or recycle refuse properly.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks using appropriate chemicals and procedures.
- Operate dishwashing equipment, clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and dishes.
- Strip carts of soiled trays, sanitize equipment and work areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support dietary operations.
- Participate in ongoing training, meetings, and in-services to meet regulatory standards.
Qualifications: High School diploma or 1 year related experience. Good communication skills, ability to read/write/speak English, customer-oriented, physical ability to stand/walk 100%, lift up to 40 lbs, and handle food service equipment.
Additional info: Knowledge of safety, sanitation, patient safety practices, and ability to work with a team. Emphasis on patient safety, including reporting safety events and promoting a culture of safety.
