Position Summary: The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to the Cook.

Qualifications:

• High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals; good motor coordination and manual dexterity for food prep, serving, dish handling, and equipment operation.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including during emergencies, and to be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.

Duties:

• Perform work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
• Assist in meal preparation and service.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow federal and state regulations, and department policies and procedures.
• Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
• Set up the dining room and serve residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Report supply and equipment needs and any damages or unsafe conditions.
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
• Understand and follow fire, disaster, and infection control procedures.
• Ensure residents are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
• Report grievances and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
• Maintain sanitation and a safe work environment.
