Job summary

Butler Rehab & Healthcare Center is seeking a Dietary Aide to join our Dietary team and help maintain smooth operation of the kitchen and dining room. You will assist in meal service and keep dining areas clean.

We emphasize patient care, teamwork and ongoing training. Experience in food service is helpful; physical ability to stand, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment is required.

Qualifications

• Friendly with good communication skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with staff and residents.
• Ability to read.
• Meet physical demands – stand, sit, walk, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Delivers meals to resident rooms at designated times and sets up tables with cleanliness and order.
• Maintain clean dining areas and dishes using proper procedures; discard leftovers and trash.
• Follow tray card color coding and therapeutic menu abbreviations.
• Assist the Cook and Dietary Manager as directed.
• Stock ingredients and monitor inventory.
• Help maintain kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Attend all mandatory in-services, trainings and department meetings.

Dietary Aide - Essential Functions:

The Dietary Aide helps prepare dining rooms and tables, provide meal service to residents and maintains cleanliness and sanitation of dining and kitchen areas.

• Delivers meals to resident rooms at designated times and sets up tables or other dining areas with attention to cleanliness and order.
• Maintain a clean dining areas & dishes using appropriate procedures, discard leftovers & empty trash.
• Understand and follow color coding and abbreviations of tray cards and therapeutic menus.
• Assists the Cook and Dietary Manager as directed.
• Stock ingredients and monitor inventory.
• Helps maintain kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Attend all mandatory in-services, educational trainings and department meetings.

Dietary Aide - Requirements:

• Friendly with good communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and residents.
• Ability to read.
• Meet physical demands – stand, sit, walk extended lengths of time, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds
• Food service experience preferred
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines a plus
