Dietary Aide

Job Description

The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to the Cook.

Qualifications for a Dietary Aide:

• High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents, with good motor coordination and manual dexterity for food prep, serving, handling dishes, and operating dietary equipment.
• Flexibility to work during emergencies, patience, and tolerance towards staff, residents, and families.

Duties of a Dietary Aide:

• Perform work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
• Assist the cook with meal preparation and service.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow federal and state regulations, and department policies.
• Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
• Set up dining area and serve residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Report supplies, equipment needs, damages, or unsafe conditions.
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
• Follow fire and disaster plans, and infection control policies.
• Ensure residents are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
• Report grievances and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain sanitation standards.
