The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide reports to the Cook.
Qualifications for a Dietary Aide:
- High School graduate; previous institutional dietary service experience preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments.
- Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents; good motor coordination and manual dexterity are required.
- Flexibility to work hours during emergencies; patience and tolerance toward staff, residents, and families.
Duties of a Dietary Aide:
- Perform work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist the cook in meal preparation and service.
- Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
- Follow federal, state, and facility policies and procedures.
- Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
- Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
- Set up the dining area and serve residents.
- Wash and store dishes; lift up to 50 lbs.
- Report supply, equipment, and safety issues.
- Assist in receiving and storing supplies.
- Understand and follow fire and disaster plans.
- Follow infection control policies.
- Ensure residents are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Report grievances; maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned; uphold sanitation and safety standards.
