Job summary

HarborChase is seeking a cook to support dining services in a senior living community. The role includes assisting with menu planning, inventory, and preparing food in a clean, appealing way while following nutritional guidelines.

You will work under supervision to ensure safe food handling, report equipment issues, and help residents maintain independence at mealtimes. A high school diploma and prior cooking for large groups are valued.

Qualifications

• High school education is required.
• Experience cooking for large groups is a plus.
• Certified in food-preparation training preferred.
• Knowledge of state food-handling and kitchen regulations.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and fire and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report foods and supplies needed for next week’s menus.
• Assist in receiving, rotation, and storage of products.
• Prepare menus and cook food according to nutritional guidelines and residents’ diets.
• Assist in fostering residents’ independence with eating by providing adaptive equipment when needed.
• Coordinate food services for special community events when requested.
• Notify Dir. of Food and Beverage or any malfunctioning kitchen equipment.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of food per infection control standards.
• Maintain a safe and alert work environment.
• Disclose any medication that might impair ability to perform the job safely.
