Job summary

HarborChase in Wilmington, Delaware is seeking a cook to assist with menu preparation, inventory control, and maintain a clean, organized safe kitchen environment. This position is responsible for preparing food in an appetizing and appealing manner.

Responsibilities include receiving and storing supplies, preparing menus in accordance with nutritional guidelines and residents' prescribed diets, and coordinating meals for special events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience cooking for large groups is a plus.
• Food-preparation certification preferred.
• Knowledge of state food-handling regulations and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report ingredients and supplies needed for upcoming menus.
• Assist in receiving, rotation, and storage of products.
• Prepare menus and cook food in accordance with nutritional guidelines and residents' prescribed diets.
• Assist residents with eating by providing adaptive equipment when needed.
• Coordinate food services for special community events when requested.
• Notify supervisor of any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliances.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of food per infection control standards.
• Maintain a safe and alert work environment and take ownership of safety.
