Job description

Position Overview

Faculty Member for Diesel Technology/Agricultural Mechanics Technology (Tenure Track or Non‑Tenure Track) – 10‑month academic year. Start date August 1 2026. Working Title: Faculty Member for Diesel Technology/Agricultural Mechanics Technology (Tenure Track or Non‑Tenure Track).

Tenure and Contract Details

Faculty Rank: Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Lecturer I (non‑tenure track). Contract: Academic Year.

Responsibilities
  • Teach approximately 24 credit hours of lecture/laboratory courses in Diesel Technology and/or Agricultural Mechanics Technology, including but not limited to fuel systems, electrical/electronic systems, powertrains, chassis, air conditioning, and agricultural equipment.
  • Provide academic and career advising to students.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program growth, and program assessment.
  • Engage with an external industry‑specific advisory board.
  • Serve on campus committees, campus activities, and act as an ambassador for the College of Technical Sciences.
  • Prepare and deliver a teaching demonstration as part of the interview process.
Required Qualifications
  • Education and experience commensurate with rank.
  • Industry experience in Diesel Technology and/or Agricultural Mechanics with increasing responsibility and expertise demonstrated.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • For tenure track: master’s degree required for tenure; bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or related field required for consideration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent industry experience with electrical/electronics, hydraulics, brakes, suspensions, heavy‑duty automatic transmissions, engines, air conditioning, powertrains, and agricultural equipment in the diesel or agriculture industry.
  • Experience with grain harvesting equipment, agricultural tractors, forage implements, sprayers, tillage, and planting implements.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies.
