Ryder in Springfield, Illinois is hiring a Diesel Technician Trainee. The program offers paid training while you become a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician in Springfield, IL, with weekly pay and comprehensive benefits. No extensive experience required, but basic mechanical aptitude preferred.

As you train, you will gain hands-on skills, participate in a structured development program, and work in a safety‑mocused facility with modern equipment and a clear path to advancement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and basic computer skills.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy vehicles and fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid units while following safety policies.
• Perform multi-point inspections and report issues to the shop.
• Maintain fuel island area and complete assigned maintenance tasks.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
