Ryder System, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Technician Trainee in Springfield, IL. This role offers on-the-job paid training, no experience required, and a path to develop diesel maintenance skills with state-of-the-art equipment in a safety-forward shop.

You will participate in a structured Technician Training Development Program, earning benefits from day one and potential bonuses. The schedule is Monday–Friday with evenings off, and you’ll gain access to medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one year mechanical experience preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery.
• Ability to troubleshoot and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or delivered to rental shop and fuel vehicles per safety policies.
• Perform multi-point inspection on inbound units and report issues to shop.
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and perform minor facility maintenance.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
