Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Akron, OH is seeking a motivated Diesel Technician Trainee to join our training program and grow into a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician. You will receive on-the-job training, weekly pay, and opportunities for ASE certifications as you advance.

Starting pay is $23.00 per hour with increases through each training stage, plus comprehensive benefits after 30 days. No prior experience is required; must be 18+ and proficient in English.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 0–1 year mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems; work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or delivered to rental shop.
• Perform multi-point inspection on inbound units as required by company policies and procedures.
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and policies; perform some facility maintenance.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments.
• Follow 6S safety standards and maintain cleanliness in the service area.
