Job summary

Ryder in Knoxville, Tennessee, is seeking a Diesel Technician Trainee. No experience required; on-the-job paid training with a starting hourly wage of $23.61. First shift hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with weekly pay and comprehensive benefits after 30 days.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or delivered to rental shop; wash and detail vehicles; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles; record fuel activity and maintain inventories.
• Perform multi-point inspection on inbound units per policy; check tire pressure, fluids, lights, and report issues to shop.
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards; perform facility maintenance and minor tasks as assigned.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements across Service Island Training and Technician Training tracks.
• Performs other duties as assigned
