Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Williston, Vermont is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair fleet vehicles on a Monday–Friday schedule (11:30 am–8:00 pm). The role offers hourly pay, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits after 30 days, with vacation and 401(k) matching.

You will use diagnostic tools, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety and DOT requirements. A CDL-A is preferred or obtainable within 6 months, with training provided and opportunities for

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification, Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two years or more of classroom training and work experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Complies with safety/DOT/MOT guidelines
• Performs other support duties to support operations.
