Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Williston, Vermont. The role offers weekly pay and a solid benefits package, with an hourly rate of $32.50 and several bonus opportunities including certification, quarterly, and sign-on bonuses.

You will work on heavy-duty vehicles using state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, vocational or technical certification preferred, and a CDL Class A may be required.

Qualifications

• Basic tools required.
• Experience with mechanical repair of automotive diesel engines helpful.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance tasks.
• Perform inspections and repairs of standard components.
• Conduct preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable.
• Identify root causes and perform repairs as needed.
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the issue.
• Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road testPass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
