Ryder System, Inc. in Manassas, Virginia is hiring a mid-level diesel technician to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles.

This role offers $27.00 per hour, weekly pay, a Monday–Friday schedule with weekends off, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and 401(k).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance.
• Two years or more of training/experience preferred.
• CDL Class A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months and pass checks.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer.
• Identifies root cause and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Complies with safety, DOT, MOT and corporate guidelines.
• Performs other support duties as required.
