Ryder System, Inc. in Richmond, VA is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles, with a 7:00 am to 3:00 pm schedule and weekends off. Weekly pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and diesel/mechanical experience; CDL-A is preferred and must be obtained within 6 months. Training on state-of-the-art diagnostics is provided. Join a safety‑driven, quality-focused team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• 2+ years of classroom training or work experience preferred.
• CDL class A preferred; must obtain CDL within 6 months.
• Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical and road test.
• Background check including motor vehicle records required.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Diagnoses problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identifies root cause and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine issue.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Complies with safety, DOT and MOT guidelines.
