Job summary

Ryder in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair light- and heavy-duty vehicles. The role offers weekly pay, a comprehensive benefits package after 30 days, and opportunities for certification bonuses.

You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and component repairs, using diagnostic tools and a shop management system, while following safety and DOT guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification, preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: routine maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
• Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience, preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
