Job summary

Penske is seeking a Technician in Ashland, VA to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a diverse fleet. You’ll work with Penske’s tools to diagnose and complete repairs, ensuring safety and reliability for customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to solve problems and use tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Team player and able to work outdoors.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must follow Penske safety and maintenance policies (DOT/OSHA).
• Regular, predictable full attendance is essential.
• Must meet DOT requirements and pass background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles to ensure safety for customers.
• Use Penske tools/technologies to log, research and complete repairs; basic diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance and component lubrication/replacement; some electrical and cooling system work on gas/diesel engines.
• Partner with manager to learn new skills via Penske training and coaching.
• Work on additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
