Trailer Equipment, Inc. in Byron Center, Michigan is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician II to join our Service Department.

The role performs inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on trailers and diesel-powered equipment, with emphasis on safety and quality. We offer competitive pay up to $35/hour, weekly pay, and a comprehensive benefits package, plus advancement opportunities through certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• At least one ASE Certification OR Michigan Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic State Certification required.
• Experience with diesel equipment, trailer repair, or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic software.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift, bend, climb, and work in physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) inspections.
• Conduct brake, tire, lighting, and DOT inspections.
• Diagnose and repair compressed air, ABS, and electrical systems.
• Replace airbags, wheel seals, bearings, brake components, and air valves.
• Perform welding and fabrication repairs.
• Repair or replace floors, crossmembers, roof sections, panels, doors, hinges, and ICC bumpers.
• Conduct trailer alignments and frame repairs.
• Complete emergency roadside service calls as needed.
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation.
• Maintain accurate service records and parts documentation.
• Mentor and support less experienced technicians.
