Job summary

Penske is hiring a Diesel Technician/Mechanic III (Entry Level) to perform preventative maintenance and simple repairs on a diverse fleet at our Wilkes-Barre, PA location. You’ll work with experienced mentors and gain access to Penske’s advanced maintenance tech and certification programs.

The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and a path for growth within a stable, well-known company. Expect training, hands-on coaching, and opportunities across OEM equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• The ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
• The ability to work well as part of a team and outside.
• Basic computer skills.
• The associate will be required to understand and comply with Penske management guidelines and safety policies.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• DOT/FMCSA requirements including driver qualification file, DOT drug screening for CDL holders.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and ensuring vehicles are safe for customers.
• Using Penske tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics.
• Performing preventative maintenance and simple repairs on gas and diesel engines.
• Learning new skills through Penske training and coaching.
• Taking on additional projects as assigned by supervision.
