Job summary

First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician to support our Frankfort, IL shop, focusing on keeping buses safe and reliable for students. This full-time day-shift role offers steady year-round work and a strong team environment.

Company-paid ASE testing and CDL Class B training are provided, along with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for career advancement across 540 locations in the U.S. & Canada. English proficiency is required and safety compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience or equivalent technical school education.
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment – company paid training provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and other repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections; complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
