Job summary

First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair school buses in our South Holland shop. This full-time day shift offers year-round work with a focus on safety, reliability, and community service.

The role requires at least 5+ years in diesel/auto maintenance, a valid driver’s license, and a CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days. Company-paid ASE testing, CDL training, and a strong benefits package are available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment (company-paid training).
• Willingness to pursue ASE certification (training and bonuses provided).
• DOT drug testing as safety-sensitive employee.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections; complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
