Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Technician Apprentice in the United States. You will work with an experienced Casella Diesel Technician to learn maintenance, repairs, and safety practices for vehicles and equipment. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance and growing skills through training and hands-on tasks.

The position includes a starting pay range of $21–$25 per hour and opportunities to advance through defined career paths within the Casella organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18+ and have a valid driver’s license.
• Basic knowledge or experience in automotive, diesel or heavy equipment diagnostics and repair.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks and work in varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Gains understanding of parts, processes, and maintenance techniques as instructed.
• Completes work orders and maintenance tasks per driver inspections.
• Performs duties in line with safety policies to ensure safe operations.
• Assists senior technicians in preventative maintenance inspections.
• Supports larger projects under supervision.
• Identifies defects affecting availability and safety.
• Adjusts brakes, clutches, and hydraulics as needed.
• Performs tire changes and repairs.
• Builds, rebuilds or replaces hydraulic components and hoses.
• Learns lockout/tagout procedures.
• Participates in training to expand knowledge and supports company mission.
