Job summary

Casella Waste is seeking a Diesel Technician Apprentice to learn from skilled technicians, perform maintenance on vehicles and equipment, and focus on preventative maintenance and safety. The role progresses as training requirements are completed, with an initial starting pay of $23–$25 per hour.

The apprentice will gain hands-on experience in parts, maintenance tasks, and standard safety procedures while supporting senior technicians on projects and daily operations.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are desired.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Learn basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques from experienced technicians.
• Process work orders and perform maintenance tasks based on inspections.
• Follow safety policies to ensure safe operations of equipment and vehicles.
• Assist senior technicians with preventative maintenance inspections.
• Support larger projects under supervision.
• Identify defects affecting equipment availability and operator safety.
• Assist with brake, hydraulic, and other system adjustments.
