Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Technician Apprentice to learn alongside experienced technicians.

You will perform preventative maintenance, assist with repairs on trucks and equipment, and focus on safety and reliability while completing training requirements. This entry-level role offers hands-on instruction, opportunities to advance through technician levels, and exposure to diesel diagnostics, brakes, hydraulics, and maintenance procedures across our fleet.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 18+ years old.
• Valid Class A, B, or C Driver’s license required.
• Basic knowledge or experience in automotive, diesel or heavy equipment diagnostics and repair.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
• Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving and teamwork are desired.
• Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and pass pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Gains understanding of parts, processes and maintenance techniques as instructed.
• Learns to complete work orders and perform maintenance tasks based on inspections.
• Follow safety policies to ensure safe operations.
• Assists senior technicians with preventative maintenance inspections and larger projects.
• Learn to identify defects affecting equipment availability and operator safety.
• Adjusts brakes, clutches, hydraulics and other vehicle components.
• Builds or replaces hydraulic components and hoses; performs tire changes and repairs.
• Learn lockout/tagout procedures and participate in training opportunities.
