Job summary
Casella Waste Systems, Inc. seeks a Diesel Technician Apprentice to learn alongside an experienced Casella Diesel Technician. You will perform maintenance, repairs on vehicles and equipment, with a focus on preventative maintenance and safety. The position starts at $25 per hour and includes a $2,000 tool allowance, with preference for 2nd shift.
The role progresses through defined technician career paths from Apprentice to Master Technician, based on training and performance.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED required with ability to read and follow instructions.
- 18+ years old with a valid driver’s license and legal work eligibility in the United States.
- Basic automotive/diesel or heavy equipment knowledge encouraged; teamwork and safety focus required.
Responsibilities
- Learn parts, maintenance techniques, and work orders under supervision.
- Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs per instruction.
- Ensure safety policies are followed during operations and inspections.
- Assist senior technicians on maintenance and larger projects.
- Identify defects affecting equipment availability and operator safety.
- Assist with brake/clutch adjustment and hydraulic systems as trained.
