Job summary

TravelCenters of America in Morris, IL is seeking a Diesel Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy‑duty trucks and trailers in a fast‑paced shop environment. You will work with a team to deliver reliable service and communicate repair plans to the Service Advisor.

Key responsibilities include performing diagnostics, repairing mechanical and electrical components, and maintaining a safe, clean workspace while supporting customer service objectives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Graduate of acceptable trade school or manufacturer's technical school, or previous mechanic experience.
• Willingness to expand professional knowledge via education and training programs.
• Ability to work unsupervised and flexible hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team to provide accurate, efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy duty trucks and trailers.
• Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results; Develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor.
• Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment; Complete repairs safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Maintain safety of customers and employees and promote TA services during inspections.
