Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Stoneham, MA is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician on the second shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm). You will work on heavy-duty vehicles with state-of-the-art diagnostics, receive on-the-job paid training, and enjoy weekly pay with comprehensive benefits.

The role offers $35.75 per hour with additional bonuses for ASE certifications and quarterly performance, plus tool and boot allowances. No experience is needed for entry, and CDL-A is preferred but not required at hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: Routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work, required.
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
