Job summary

Penske is seeking an automotive technician at our Elgin, IL location. You will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the fleet to keep vehicles safe and on the road.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to solve problems and comfortable using tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and outside.
• Basic computer skills.
• Adherence to Penske safety and maintenance policies; PPE and tool use requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles to ensure safety and reliability for customers.
• Use Penske tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance and tire work, plus minor electrical and cooling system tasks on gas/diesel engines.
• Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
