Job summary

Stevens Transport seeks a Diesel Technician I to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on our truck fleet, including Peterbilt, Kenworth and Freightliners. Multiple shifts available as part of Paragon Fleet Maintenance Group.

The role requires basic diesel tech skills, tools, and the ability to read manuals; you will work in a shop environment with DOT standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Basic tool set, 1+ years heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience, telematics systems & diagnostic software knowledge, basic computer skills, reading manuals, valid Class C driver's license, English literacy, basic math.
• Preferred Qualifications: Cummins or Detroit Certifications, Thermo King Certifications, 609 Certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and non-routine repairs to company/contractor fleet to meet DOT standards.
• Diesel and gas engine diagnostics and repair.
• Suspension and steering systems diagnostics and repair.
• Air and hydraulic braking systems diagnostics and repair.
• Electrical and lighting diagnostics and repair.
• Preventable Maintenance on trucks and trailers.
• Trailer Body Repairs.
• Oil changes, battery checks, lubrication of equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized shop.
• Additional duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently hiring a Diesel Technician I who will be responsible for preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostic tests, and repairs on our trucks, which include equipment by Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliners and Utility Trailers. This includes all general and complex repairs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key Responsibilities

• Performing scheduled and non-routine repairs to company/contractor fleet to meet DOT standards
• Diesel and gas engine diagnostics and repair
• Suspension and steering systems diagnostics and repair
• Air and hydraulic braking systems diagnostics and repair
• Electrical and lighting diagnostics and repair
• Preventable Maintenance repairs and trucks and trailers

• Changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
• Maintaining a clean and neat shop

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic Tool set for job functions
• 1+ years of general heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience
• Working knowledge of telematics systems and diagnostic software.
• Basic computer skills required
• Ability to read and understand operating manuals, service manuals and written instruction
• Valid Class C driver's license
• Ability to clearly read, write and speak English
• Basic math calculations

• Climbing ladders, stairs, and platforms
• Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds

1+ years as Diesel Technician
