Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Diesel Technician/Mechanic to complete diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds in a service workshop under limited supervision. The role supports our Distribution business with on-site work and offers a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Responsibilities include completing engine repairs, using diagnostic tools, and keeping detailed service records while complying with safety policies. CDL may be required for hire and ongoing training is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
  • Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software.
  • CDL may be required to obtain upon hire.

Job description

Job Summary:

Completes diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision.

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Roanoke, VA).

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs
  • Performs engine overhauls unassisted
  • Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
  • Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

Ability to do chassis work and brakes a plus

  • A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
