Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Diesel Technician/Mechanic to complete diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in our service workshop with limited supervision.

This on-site role offers a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, competitive pay and benefits. You will perform repairs, use diagnostic tools, keep detailed service records and stay current with Cummins policies and certifications.

Qualifications

  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician preferred.
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.
  • Locally valid driving permit preferred.
  • Licensing for export controls may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop.
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products.
  • Maintain own tools.

Job description

Job Summary:

Completes diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision.

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Roanoke, VA).

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs
  • Performs engine overhauls unassisted
  • Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
  • Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

Ability to do chassis work and brakes a plus

  • A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
