Job description

Join to apply for the Diesel Technician role at GFL Environmental Inc.

Utilize expertise in diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to maintain GFL’s fleet in safe and road-ready condition.

Essential Functions:

• Diagnose and repair Diesel and CNG trucks, including engines, electrical, propane, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Lead inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering, wheel bearings, and other critical parts.
• Mentor and guide level B and C mechanics.
• Prioritize repairs for efficiency and timely work completion.
• Review mechanical write-ups and coordinate repairs.
• Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
• Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and handle administrative duties.
• Ensure safety standards and compliance.
• Interpret electrical and diagnostic schematics.
• Participate in training to enhance skills.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Education, Training, Experience, and Licensing/Certification:

• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related regulations.
• ASE Certifications preferred.
• Ability to interpret schematics and manuals.
• Effective communication skills.
• Experience with diagnostic software; computer literate.
• Class A or B CDL preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Minimum 5 years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.

Physical/Mental Demands:

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds.
• Stand, sit, walk, operate equipment, and use computers as required.
• Visual and mental focus for extended periods.
