Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Diesel Technician/Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a range of diesel fleet vehicles, including trucks and trailers. You will work with Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Volvo powertrains, performing maintenance from basic service to complex engine repairs, with emphasis on safety and DOT compliance.

The role requires hands-on mechanical, electrical, and HVAC work, along with strong diagnostic skills and the ability to mentor junior technicians.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of diesel truck mechanic or technician experience on fleet vehicles (entry level to senior).
• Experience with Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Volvo powertrains.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel fleet vehicles and perform DOT inspections.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Experience on Freightliner M2 box trucks and tractors is a plus.
• Must supply and effectively use personal tools for diesel maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles with appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Test drive vehicles and evaluate components using diagnostic tools.
• Inspect critical components per checklists and verify issues through inspections.
• Communicate with drivers to obtain detailed problem descriptions and confirm issues.
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, filters, lubrication, brakes, tires.
• Tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies and engine components.
• Perform engine repairs and after-treatment work on diesel engines.
• Electrical diagnostics and rewiring ignition systems, lights, and panels.
• Mentor junior technicians and maintain organized, safe work areas.
• Complete DOT inspections independently and ensure regulatory compliance.
