Job summary

Rush Enterprises Inc. is seeking a Diesel Shop Foreman to lead a team of diesel technicians, oversee daily shop operations, and ensure high-quality repairs.

You will recruit and mentor mechanics, coordinate with the Service Manager, and assign work to match skills for optimal throughput. You will oversee progress, maintain safety and compliance, road-test completed work, and monitor payroll-related data to ensure fair, accurate compensation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years’ related shop and technician supervision experience.
• Insurability with Company’s carrier.
• ASE Master, Diamond or other manufacturer certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Assist mechanics in developing their skills with support of the Service Manager.
• Schedule repair work and assign technicians to segments matching skill level.
• Ensure fair distribution of repairs among mechanics.
• Provide technical support for mechanics as needed.
• Monitor progress of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks with spot checks.
• Road test vehicles to quality-check work performed.
• Monitor mechanics’ productivity reports and payroll records.
