Job summary

Rush Enterprises in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Diesel Shop Foreman to lead a team of diesel technicians, schedule repairs, and ensure quality workmanship on every job. The role combines hands-on supervision with strategic shop-floor leadership.

You will recruit, mentor, and assign work, support the Service Manager, and monitor progress, productivity, and payroll records while road-testing vehicles to verify repairs meet standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years' related shop and technician supervision experience required.
• Insurability with Company's carrier required.
• ASE Master Certification or similar manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Assist diesel mechanics in developing their skills with support of the Service Manager.
• Schedule repair work and assign technicians to segments matching their skill level.
• Ensure repairs are assigned to mechanics in an equal and fair manner.
• Provide technical support for mechanics when necessary.
• Check progress of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks; conduct spot checks for quality.
• Road test vehicles to verify quality of work.
• Monitor mechanics' daily productivity reports and payroll records.
