Job summary

Rush Enterprises in Orlando, FL is seeking a Diesel Shop Foreman to lead and develop a team of diesel technicians. You will recruit, coach, and schedule repairs, ensuring fair workload distribution and high-quality results.

You’ll provide hands-on technical support and road-test vehicles to verify workmanship. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of supervision in a shop setting, with preferred ASE/Cat/Cummins/Eaton certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of shop and technician supervision experience.
• Insurability with the company’s carrier.
• ASE Master Certification, Diamond Certification, or OEM manufacturer certifications (Cat, Cummins, Eaton, Fuller, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Assist mechanics in skill development with guidance from the Service Manager.
• Schedule repairs and assign technicians to tasks matching their skill level.
• Ensure fair assignment of repairs among mechanics.
• Provide technical support for mechanics as needed.
• Check progress of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks; perform spot checks.
• Road-test vehicles to verify workmanship.
• Monitor daily productivity and payroll records.
