Job summary

Summit Drilling, LLC in Fort Mill, SC seeks a Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of vehicles and equipment. You’ll perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and complex repairs on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, reporting to the Shop Foreman.

You will mentor junior mechanics, uphold safety standards, and contribute to a clean, organized shop environment. A CDL is required or willing to obtain, with strong communication and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a diesel shop environment (heavy equipment, trucks, off-road equipment)
• Own your mechanic tools
• Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic systems
• Possession of or willingness to obtain a Class A CDL
• Experience with DOT inspection protocols
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools for hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in repairing and maintaining vehicle systems
• Willingness to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Reliable transportation to get to and from Fort Mill office

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair fleet vehicles using diagnostic software and specialized test equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.
• Test and inspect hydraulic, electrical, brake, clutch, and cooling systems to identify malfunctions.
• Repair or replace brakes, steering, transmissions, fuel components, engines, and electrical systems.
• Overhaul engines and engine components as needed.
• Use mechanic’s hand tools and power equipment to remove, disassemble, repair, rebuild, or replace defective parts.
• Test operate vehicles or equipment and consult with the Shop Foreman regarding performance issues.
• Complete all required documentation accurately, detailing work performed.
• Respond to emergency service calls during and outside of normal working hours.
• Assist and train junior mechanics.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
