Job summary

Summit Drilling, LLC in Fort Mill, SC is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of vehicles and equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and complex repairs on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

You will mentor junior mechanics and ensure a safe, efficient workshop environment. The role requires at least 2 years in a diesel shop, own tools, and a Class A CDL (or willingness to obtain one).

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a diesel shop environment (heavy equipment, trucks, off-road equipment, yellow iron)
• Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic systems
• Possession of or willingness to obtain a Class “A” CDL
• Proven experience with DOT inspection protocols
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools for hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair fleet vehicles and equipment using company-provided diagnostic software and specialized test equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.
• Test and inspect hydraulic, electrical, brake, clutch, and cooling systems to identify and resolve malfunctions.
• Repair or replace key vehicle systems, including brakes, steering, transmissions, fuel components, engines, and electrical systems.
• Overhaul engines and engine components as needed.
• Use mechanic’s hand tools and power equipment to remove, disassemble, repair, rebuild, or replace defective parts.
• Test operate vehicles or equipment and consult with the Shop Foreman regarding performance issues.
• Complete all required documentation accurately, detailing work performed.
• Respond to emergency service calls during and outside of normal working hours.
• Assist and train junior mechanics.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
