Sweeping Corporation of America is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Birmingham, AL. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair street sweepers and related machinery, focusing on hydraulic, electrical, and air systems to ensure peak fleet performance.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, preventive maintenance, and clear communication with operators. This is a first shift, on-site position with competitive hourly pay and essential benefits to support ongoing safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED required.
• Experience: 2 years in a shop environment with hydraulic, electrical, and air systems; heavy equipment experience preferred.
• License: Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Safety & inspection: perform thorough equipment inspections and follow lockout/tagout. Adhere to safety protocols.
• Execution: carry out maintenance tasks per blueprints and specs to minimize downtime.
• Equipment operation: use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical problems on sweepers and related equipment.
• Material handling: safely manage parts, lubricants and fluids; dispose waste per regs.
• Reporting: promptly report issues or safety concerns to management.
• Communication: clearly relay maintenance needs and status to operators.
• Compliance & documentation: complete service reports and safety checklists.
• Adaptability & problem solving: diagnose and adjust repair approaches as needed.
• Attendance: maintain regular, on-time attendance.
