Job summary

Reyes Fleet Management in Gardena, CA is hiring a Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Technician A to diagnose, repair and maintain tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, and related equipment. You will complete detailed work orders and use diagnostic software, with a strong emphasis on safety and DOT compliance.

We offer a full-time schedule 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, competitive $37–$42 per hour, and a comprehensive benefits package plus opportunities for ASE and CDL incentive pay and career advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with related experience.
• CDL license preferred in some locations and required in others.
• Own tools and ability to demonstrate mechanical proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, rebuild and repair fleet equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, and related parts).
• Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electric problems using diagnostic technology/software when applicable.
• Perform detailed inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
• Adhere to DOT, OSHA and company safety policies; use tools, PPE and safety practices correctly.
• May be required to drive Reyes family of businesses and customer vehicles; maintain DOT driver qualification file.
• Some travel may be required.
• Other projects or duties as assigned.

Shift: Full-Timel 2:00PM - 10:30PM, Monday-Friday
Pay: $37.00 - $42.00/hr, depending upon experience/qualifications

Position Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, rebuild and repair fleet equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, and related parts)
• Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electric problems utilizing diagnostic technology/software when applicable
• Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal polices and regulations including DOT, OSHA, and Reyes Fleet Management standards, while ensuring compliance with safety programs, correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practices
• This position may require driving Reyes Family of Businesses, Reyes Fleet Management and customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualification file to be maintained as required by the role. The Driver Qualification file includes: an annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last three years. Additionally, CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMSCA Clearinghouse review

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED) with 3 plus years of related experience
• Must possess own tools
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations to operate applicable company vehicles
• Valid CDL (License A) is highly desired; mandatory in some locations
• Ability to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 pounds
