Job summary

GFL Environmental, Inc. is hiring a Level A/B Diesel Mechanic in Georgia to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain our heavy-duty fleet. You will work on diesel, CNG, gas, and electric trucks and equipment, ensuring reliability and safety.

You’ll use advanced diagnostic software, manage repairs with the M5 planner, and contribute to fleet readiness while mentoring teammates and maintaining your own tool set.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1+ year hands-on diesel mechanic experience (Level B), with advanced diagnostic capabilities (Level A).
• Experience with computerized diagnostic software; able to navigate shop management software.
• Possess and maintain own set of tools for heavy-duty repairs.
• Able to meet safety-sensitive requirements and pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Advanced Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty diesel, CNG, gas, and electric trucks and equipment.
• Work Order & Inventory Management: Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner, procure parts, and complete daily reports.
• Fleet Support: Review write-ups, coordinate shop repair schedules, maintain readiness.
• Safety First: Maintain safe conditions and comply with regulations; keep work area clean.
• Mentorship & Development: Assist in training and onboarding newer shop members while learning new technologies.
• Tool Ownership: Use personal hand tools for hydraulic, engine, and structural maintenance.
