XPO is seeking a Mechanic Apprentice in Columbus, OH to perform routine maintenance on heavy‑duty diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment in line with manufacturer, DOT, and company schedules.

Qualifications

• 1 year of tractor/trailer inspection and repair experience or a technical school degree with certification in heavy‑duty truck/trailer maintenance
• Valid driver’s license
• Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends
• Brake inspection qualified as defined in FMCSA regulations, 396.25
• Vehicle inspection qualified as defined in FMCSA regulations, 396.19
• Basic hand tools required for heavy‑duty trailer and tractor maintenance

Responsabilités

• Perform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on all types of heavy‑duty diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment in compliance with the manufacturer, DOT, and company schedules
• Apply knowledge and work by DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA and other rules and regulations, as required
• Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance, including inspecting and performing work in, on or under parts of vehicles and trailers
• Repair or rebuild equipment systems
• Conduct safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
• Move trailers throughout the property, operating a hostler in all types of weather
• Enter job times and parts on repair orders to track activity
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles
• Ensure the work area is always clean, safe, and organized
• Interact with operations and shop management

Connaissances

Tractor/trailer inspection experience

Valid driver’s license

Willing to work shifts

Formation

Technical school degree + heavy‑duty maintenance certification

High school diploma or equivalent

Outils

Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, ARC, MIG)
