Job summary

XPO is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to service class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailers in a fast-paced shop in the United States. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair components to keep fleets safe and compliant.

A valid CDL and welding skills help, with growth potential through certifications and education assistance. Salary ranges hourly with shift differentials, uniforms provided, and full health, life, and disability insurance.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a technical school degree with certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance
• EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire (ASE, MACS or equivalent)
• A valid driver’s license
• Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) and mechanical skills
• Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance
• Basic computer skills
• Brake inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.25
• Vehicle Inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.19
• Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment
• Inspect and work in, on or under equipment during maintenance
• Repair or rebuild components of equipment systems
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues and perform repairs
• Adhere to DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA rules and regulations
• Conduct safety inspections and document results
• Maintain proficiency with equipment and productivity tools
• Move trailers around the property using a hostler in all weather
• Record job times and parts on repair orders
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles
• Keep work area clean, safe, and organized
• Interact with operations and shop management
