Job summary

XPO is seeking a Mechanic Apprentice to perform routine maintenance on heavy-duty diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing equipment. You will ensure compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA and company rules while performing inspections and repairs.

The role requires 1 year of experience in tractor and trailer maintenance or a technical school credential, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work varied shifts. Comprehensive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in tractor/trailer inspection and repair or tech school with heavy-duty maintenance certification
• Valid driver’s license required
• Able to work varied shifts including days, evenings and weekends
• Brake inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.25
• Vehicle inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.19
• MUST have basic hand tools for heavy-duty maintenance

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on heavy-duty diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment per manufacturer, DOT and company schedules
• Follow DOT, EPA, OSHA and related regulations
• Access equipment to perform maintenance and inspections
• Repair or rebuild equipment systems as needed
• Conduct safety inspections and document results
• Move trailers on site using a hostler in all weather
• Enter job times and parts on repair orders to track activity
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles
• Keep work area clean, safe and organized
• Interact with operations and shop management
