Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Tigard, OR.

  • Hourly Pay: $31.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter
  • Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 4 10-hour shifts
  • Hours: Second shift, 12:30 pm – 11:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Two or more years of classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become an employee, you must:
    • Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
    • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, background, and motor vehicle checks

  • Conduct standard inspections and repairs
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools
  • Identify root causes and perform repairs
  • Replace defective components
  • Maintain facilities
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine issues
  • Use shop management systems and electronic documentation
  • Follow all safety and compliance guidelines
  • Support operations as needed, including service island duties
